#60 - Room 252 by Barbara Avon plus Holiday Special
New Episodes of Bedtime Stories for Insomniacs
This week’s story was written by a guest author, Barbara Avon, who has contributed other chapters of her psychological horror novel, Owl Eyes Motel to the podcast. This one is a personal favorite of mine, a story within a story.
I had the pleasure to record the full audiobook of Owl Eyes Motel for Barb as well, and you can find it on Audible and Apple Books. It’s my first audiobook for another author and I hope if you enjoy the stories you’ve heard from her on the podcast, you’ll check it out, and also look up her other books on Amazon. She writes in a variety of genres, but her psychological horror is my favorite.
The bonus story this week is one that I wrote a couple of years ago and recorded for the podcast way back when it was the Written by Rich Hosek podcast. At that time, I was doing just straight up narration with no music or sound effects. So, I thought this Valentines Day would be a great opportunity to redo that story, giving it the full audioscape treatment. So, even if you’ve heard it before, I hope you’ll take another listen to “As the Tea Leaves.”
In case you’re wondering about the punny title, for some reason when I was thinking of what to call it, the old soap operas my mother used to watch during the day came to mind. One in particular was named “As the World Turns.” Forgive me, sometimes the titles I come up are a little self-indulgent.
By the way, I am sooo close to having 50 reviews of Near Death on Amazon. So, if you haven’t reviewed it, I hope you’ll take a minute or two to post a brief note and however many stars you think it deserves.
If you haven’t had the time read it yet, you can listen to the full audio version of Near Death on the podcast. My other novels are also available. I’d appreciate if you could share a review of those books, too, as well as this podcast.
So, don’t forget to subscribe and share,
have a great Valentines Day,
and as always,
thank you and all the very best.
